Corporation officials have demolished the office building of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s bungalow in Mumbai. The building was demolished by corporation officials who arrived with bulldozers this afternoon. The corporation proceeded with the proceedings as the High Court was scheduled to hear the petition filed against the demolition move. The Shiv Sena-controlled corporation’s retaliation comes amid a sharp tussle between Shiv Sena leaders and Kangana Ranaut.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has also ordered an inquiry into whether Kangana was using drugs. The corporation office building was demolished on the grounds that the response to the notice issued by the corporation showing illegal construction was not satisfactory. Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut in Himachal Pradesh has returned to Mumbai.
The demolition work began shortly after 11 am, the official told PTI. Earlier in the day, the BMC posted a second notice outside her bungalow, informing her of the action being taken by the civic body, he said. A BMC team reached the bungalow at Pali Hill in Bandra with bulldozer and excavators and demolished alterations made sans the civic body’s approval.
Last week, as Kangana Ranaut commented that she feared living in Mumbai, Sena leaders suggested the actor should stay out of the city. The row escalated when she retorted that “Mumbai feels like PoK” – a comment she repeated today. In a fierce backlash from the Shiv Sena, an MLA threatened that she would be slapped at the Mumbai airport, women protesters hit her posters with slippers and a top Sena leader, Sanjay Raut, was on camera using a slur against her.
