Kaarthik Shankar will be doing direction in Telugu film

He has made us all laugh uncontrollably through his sensible productions and short movies at home with his mother, father, and uncle. Malayali social media powerhouse Kaarthik Shankar, whose supporters love him for his comic planning, is appearing as a director through a family dramatization in Telugu.

The film, featuring Sanjana Anand and Kiran Abbavaram, will go on floors in November; its puja was done on Friday in Hyderabad.

Kaarthik tells us, “It is a feel-good film, which we are shooting in Hyderabad and Vizag. We have a 60-day schedule.” The movie’s script is also by Kaarthik himself. For those wondering why the Malayali content maker is debuting through a Telugu film, Kaarthik explains, “In 2015, I had taken part in a short film competition and happened to meet the team, which is now helming the project. Since then, they have been following my work, and recently, I was told if there is a good script, they can introduce me to Telugu. That’s how it happened.” Unlike in his productions and web series, Kaarthik will not be acting in his presentation executive.

Obviously, the young person grew up observing more Tamil and Telugu films than Malayalam! “I don’t know why, but my dad loved those movies and used to make me watch them, as well. Even after growing up, I continued following them to observe their rich technicalities in filmmaking. I can’t speak Telugu but can understand the language very well, because of this. The script of this film is something I wrote as a Malayalam project, but it will be executed in Telugu with the necessary tweaks to suit the industry,” explains the artist, who has also committed to direct a film in Malayalam. “I have some other acting and direction offers from Telugu too. But I haven’t taken up anything yet, I want to see how this project goes first,” Kaarthik says.
So, when will his mom, who has her own fanbase, debut in movies? Kaarthik says, “She has offered, but is waiting to start with my project as that’s what she would be comfortable with.” Kaarthik adds.
