The State-level Farm Awards for 2021, established by the Agriculture Department, were announced by Kerala’s Agriculture Minister P. Prasad in March of this year. Malayalam actor Jayram received a special mention. At the Agriculture Day event hosted by the state’s agriculture department two days ago in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented the actor with the prize for the best farmer.

At this event, Jayaram’s agricultural work was also praised. The actor was glad to get the farmer’s award rather than the Padma Shri while speaking on the event. On his Instagram, actor Jayaram posted pictures from the occasion and thanked the chief minister and the Kerala State Government. “Very happy and proud moment… Krishikaran Jayaram… To Kerala Govt. To the Department of Agriculture…THANK YOU….to all the locals…colleagues who are helping me…,” the caption read as translated.

Jayaram has played a number of iconic parts in South Indian films throughout his playing career. The multi-talented actor received praise earlier in 2020 for his “hi-tech” Anand dairy farm, which is located in Kerala’s Thottuva on the banks of the Periyar River close to Kalady and spans roughly 8 acres of land.

Currently, Jayaram’s farm in Kerala, which provides pure milk to the cooperative society and areas around, has a total of 60 cows, each of which he personally selects. The actor has disclosed that he travels to cities in Tamil Nadu like Krishnagiri and Hosur to purchase cows for his property.

Jayaram promotes a wide selection of high-quality goods produced by the publicly traded Kerala Feeds Ltd (KFL) in order to advance his “model farm” concept. Kerala’s top producer of animal feed is KFL. The actor has consented to do this in order to both encourage entrepreneurship in the state’s dairy industry and to draw in young people.
