Kerala, not typically a stronghold for Bollywood movies, witnessed an unprecedented triumph as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ set the stage for a remarkable cinematic wave. Following ‘Pathan,’ ‘Jawan’ capitalized on the positive word of mouth that resonated nationally, notably impacting the Kerala box office. Shah Rukh Khan’s allure was the linchpin, but ‘Jawan’ didn’t garner universally positive reviews, garnering mixed opinions. Yet, Khan’s star power propelled the film to extraordinary heights, crossing the 1000-crore mark globally and etching its name as Bollywood’s biggest hit in Kerala.

Surpassing ‘Pathan’ in collections, ‘Jawan’ has thus far amassed over 13.15 crores in Kerala. Analysts speculate that had the film garnered the same enthusiastic reception as ‘Pathan,’ it could have easily crossed the 20-crore milestone in the state. Anticipation now swirls around whether ‘Jawan’ will outshine ‘Pathan’ on the global box office scene. In this cinematic venture directed by Atlee, both Atlee and Nayanthara made their Bollywood debuts.
