A hero who fights against justice. No matter what the obstacles are, he will see success in it. This is a common trait of vigilante films in Tamil cinema. Later, he created a genre called vigilante plus psycho thriller with the film Anyan. Indian 2 is the new eighth in Shankar’s vigilante universe.

Indian, released in 1996, was a film about an old army general who was a military officer, against the bureaucratic corruption and injustice spread in the society. Senapati is a virtuous hero who punishes whoever commits a crime, even if it is his own son. In India, Senapati says that wherever and whenever he sees injustice, he will rise again. The fight against corruption that started in the first part is continuing even after several years. But the opponents this time are of a slightly different breed.Four friends expose injustices in society through their YouTube channel. The foundation of Indian 2 is when a freedom fighter called Senapati comes between them and the events that follow. The presentation is lively. Shankar plants all the seeds for Senapati’s comeback. The film discusses the current developments such as suicide of students, bribery, cheating in exams and so on.

This time too, Shankar is clearly exposing the loopholes in democracy and our legal system. The rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. Indian 2 says that those who took meager bank loans for education or agriculture have to succumb to intimidation and psychological pressure to end their lives, while those who have borrowed thousands of crores live a luxurious life abroad. Senapati and his colleagues are calling for corrections to start from their own families.Kamal Haasan’s performance as a centurion-year-old general throughout the film.

Ulakanayakan has done a great job as an old warrior who opposes injustice wherever he sees it, while still carrying the grief of killing his own son. Siddharth is also in a lead role as Chitra Aravind, a vlogger. Chitra Aravind was safe in Siddharth’s arms after failing to reform his own family. Bobby Simha’s police role is reminiscent of Krishnamurthy IPS who played Nedumudi Venu in the first part. Priya Bhavani Shankar, S.J. Suriya, Javed Geoffrey, Samudharkani, Thambi Ramaiah and others also gave good performances.
