The four-Test series between India and England is scheduled to begin in Chennai from 5 February. The 15-member England squad arrived in Chennai on Sunday for the series. The squad includes star all-rounder Ben Stokes, pacer Joffra Archer, batsman Rory Burns and Jonathan Trott. Some of England’s reserve players have also been included in the squad for the first two matches of the series to be played at Chepak Stadium, Chennai. All these players are not part of the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka at this time.

The first two matches of the Test series between India and England will be held in Chennai, while the remaining two Tests and five T20 matches will be played in Ahmedabad. After this, three ODIs will be held in Pune. The remaining players of the England team will reach Chennai directly from Sri Lanka in different groups on 27 January. In the wake of the Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic, all England players and other team members who have arrived in Chennai will be subjected to a corona test and held at a hotel in the city for a few days.

Apart from all the players from India and England, both teams and other officials associated with the match will be kept in the Bio Secure Environment in view of Corona at the Leela Palace Hotel. England team for the first two Tests: Joe Root (captain), Jack Crowley, Daniel Lawrence, Dominic Sibley, Moeen Ali, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes, Rory Burns, Jose Butler, Ben Fox, Joffra Archer, James Anderson, Dominic Bess, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach, Ollie Stone. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the squad for the first two Tests keeping in mind the workload management.
