Ahead of the highly anticipated World Cup clash against Pakistan, Shubman Gill has been honored with the ICC Player of the Month award for his outstanding performances in September. Unfortunately, Gill couldn’t participate in the initial two matches of the World Cup due to a bout of dengue. However, he is set to make a comeback and join the squad for the upcoming match against Pakistan.In contention for the ICC Player of the Month award for September, alongside Gill, were Indian pacer Mohammad Siraj and England’s David Malan. Mohammad Siraj showcased an exceptional performance, securing the top position in the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings for September by claiming 11 wickets in six matches, including a remarkable five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup final.

During last month’s Asia Cup, Shubman Gill emerged as the top scorer of the tournament, amassing an impressive 302 runs at an average of 75.5. Following this, he continued his impressive form by scoring 178 runs, including a century, in the initial two matches of the ODI series against Australia. Notably, Gill also notched up a century against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup. Throughout last month, he struck three half-centuries. In the eight innings he played last season, Gill was dismissed for less than 50 only twice.
