American television channels HBO, and WB stop the transmission of countries, including India, Pakistan. Warner Media International, the channel’s owners, made this clear. The transmission will be stopped by December 15. Apart from India and Pakistan, these channels are not available in Bangladesh and Maldives. The children’s channel Cartoon Network and Pogo are owned by Warner Media. But these will continue to be broadcast in India.
HBO will cease broadcasting in India two decades later. Siddharth Jain, South Asia MD, Warner Media, said the pay-TV industry has undergone major changes and Kovid has accelerated the need for change. It was a tough decision to stop broadcasting in these countries. He also thanked all the partners who took their brands home. Warner Media’s offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore will continue to operate. This is for monitoring children’s channels.
The operations, sales, and marketing arm of the news channel CNN International will also operate here. There are indications that the video streaming service Mail HBO Max Class, which was launched in the US this year, will soon be rolled out to India.
