Her first poetry collection was published when she was 16 years old. Amrita, who has written more than 100 books, is considered the first poet of the Punjabi language. His first poem on the India-Pakistan Partition, Aj Aankan Waris Shah Nu became very famous.

Amrita Pritam received the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest honor. She was also awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award. In 1986, She was nominated to the Rajya Sabha. She also worked for All India Radio. Amrita’s autobiography ‘Rasiidi Ticket’ is very popular. His books were also translated into many languages. She died on 31 October 2005.
