Earlier Saidapet court had sentenced N. Linguswamy to six months. Linguswamy’s plea to the Madras Principal Sessions Court against this was rejected by the court. Earlier, the verdict came in a case filed by PVP against Tirupati Brothers, a production company run by Lingu Swamy and his brother Subhash Chandra Bose. In 2014, Tirupati Brothers had taken a huge loan from PVP Capital Limited. But this was not repaid. Following this, PVP filed a case against the checks signed by Linguswamy. The Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Saidapet then sentenced Linguswamy to six months imprisonment. The order was issued on August 22, 2022.
But Lingusamy appealed to the Sessions Court on principle. But on April 12, the Madras Principal Sessions Court, which heard the case, upheld the 6-month sentence imposed by the Saidapeta court. With this, Linguswamy will have to serve 6 months in jail. During his sentencing last year, Lingusamy said he would continue his legal fight. Reports say that the failure of the film Anchaan and the failure of the Kamal film Uttamvillan, which was taken for distribution, made Linguswamy in a debt trap.
