Deepu Balakrishnan, a Mollywood associate director drowns in Thrissur temple pond


On Monday morning (October 10), Deepu Balakrishnan, a co-director and actor who appeared in Malayalam films, drowned while taking a bath in a pond. He was 41 years old.
According to the sources, Deepu Balakrishnan took a morning bath at the Koodalmanikyam Temple’s south side pond in Irinjalakuda, Thrissur.

Deepu, who had left his house around 5 a.m. to take a bath in the temple pond, did not return, and his family went in search of him. They alerted the fire force unit after discovering his clothes and shoes by the pond, and after some searching, the body was discovered.

As an associate director, Deepu Balakrishnan has been employed in the Malayalam film business. He collaborated with Jiju Ashokan on the film “Urumbukal Urangarilla.” Deepu also played a small role in the film. Deepu Balakrishnan has also worked as an assistant director for the movies ‘Once in Mind’ and ‘Prema Soothram’. He also directed several short films. Padmasoorya and Prarthana Balakrishnan’s wife Nimmi and their offspring are left behind.

The director’s union of FEFKA and Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, among other members of the cinema community, expressed their sorrow over Deepu Balakrishnan’s premature death.
