Deep Fake Video Of Alia Bhatt ; Spreading In Social Media

Deepfake videos of film stars have been widely circulated in recent times, causing significant concerns. These videos involve the use of AI technology, specifically deep learning, to make subtle alterations to the original videos. For instance, videos featuring actresses like Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, and Kajol have been manipulated using AI to create deepfake versions, which are then shared and become viral on social media.

One notable example is a deepfake video of Alia Bhatt, where her face is morphed into another woman’s face. This manipulated video of Alia Bhatt is being promoted on social media, gaining attention as a deepfake video created by editing a video of another woman to resemble Alia Bhatt. Simultaneously, a video from the shooting of the film “Jigra,” directed by Vasanth Balan and starring Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar, is also making headlines. The video involves a scene where Alia and Karan are seen shooting for the movie.

In addition to actresses, actor Vasan Balan’s daughter, Rosie Breena, gained popularity on TikTok with a deepfake video where her face is replaced with Kajol’s. The video, which features Rosie Breena with Kajol’s face, became part of the “Get Ready with Me” trend on TikTok. Another video that went viral online features Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, editing a video where she changes her outfit in front of a camera in an elevator.

The controversy surrounding deepfake videos prompted India’s Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to address the issue. He emphasized the need for social media platforms to take responsibility and highlighted that if platforms fail to self-regulate, the government may need to intervene. Vaishnaw also pointed out that deepfake videos pose a significant challenge and called for awareness among the public.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed concern about the growing menace of deepfake videos. He urged media and citizens to be vigilant and aware of the potential misuse of artificial intelligence in creating deepfake content. Modi emphasized the importance of media playing a responsible role in educating the public about the risks associated with deepfake technology.

In response to the concerns raised, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is considering measures to address deepfake videos. The government is exploring legal provisions to hold online platforms accountable for not taking adequate steps to prevent the spread of deepfake content. As the issue gains attention, discussions on regulating deepfake technology and protecting against its misuse continue to evolve.
