The Central Meteorological Department has extended the rain forecast for the state today, particularly emphasizing heavy rain projections in the hilly regions. These hilly areas experienced substantial rainfall yesterday as well. A yellow alert has been issued for today in three districts—Ernakulam, Idukki, and Malappuram. Isolated heavy rain is anticipated, falling within the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm over a span of 24 hours. Notably, seven districts were under a yellow alert on Tuesday: Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has advised caution regarding high waves measuring between 0.8 to 1.8 meters along the Kerala coast until 11.30 tonight. Additionally, they have alerted to the possibility of high waves ranging from 0.8 to 2.0 meters and storm surges along the southern Tamil Nadu coast until the same time tonight.”
