Covid crisis; Tata Motors, one of the country’s leading importers and containers, is ready to supply oxygen

The second wave of Covid has intensified in the country. Many Covid patients die due to a lack of oxygen in hospitals. Leading corporate houses in India have come to the rescue in the wake of the current crisis. These include Reliance Industries, Tata Group, Vedanta Group and JSW Steel.

Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has said that 700 tonnes of oxygen per day will be provided free of cost to cope with the shortage of oxygen in hospitals across the country. Reliance’s oil refineries in Jamnagar, Gujarat, produce medical grade oxygen and deliver it free of cost to distressed states. It will provide relief to more than 70,000 critically ill patients in states including Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Reliance Medical Grade Oxygen is produced at refineries made from crude oil to diesel, petrol and aviation fuel. The machinery required for this is specially installed here. From here, oxygen will be delivered free of cost to various states in specially prepared tankers at a temperature of minus 183 degrees Celsius. Oxygen is supplied as part of the company’s CSR program. Reliance has set up the first Kovid Hospital in the country in collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

The Tata Group plans to import 24 cryogenic containers to address the country’s oxygen shortage. The company decided to import cryogenic containers to carry liquid oxygen. The company made the announcement on Twitter. The company also promised to do everything possible in the fight against Kovid. Tata’s new decision is getting a lot of applause on social media. Currently, the company has set aside around Rs 1,500 crore to fight the Kovid epidemic alone. Kerala also received assistance from the Tata Group. The company has built a hospital in Kasaragod district to combat the Kovid epidemic. The country had received support from the Tata Group even after the Kovid crisis last year. The company has been supplying large quantities of ventilators, PPE kits, masks, gloves and Kovid testing kits to hospitals across India.

JSW Steel has announced that it will supply 400 metric tonnes of liquefied oxygen per day in Karnataka to treat Kovid-19 patients. State Geology Minister Murukesh R Nirani and JSW Steel Deputy Managing Director Dr The announcement was made after a meeting between Vinod and Noval. The government has asked steel companies, including JSW, to increase the supply of oxygen to hospitals across the state as the situation worsens following Kovid. He asked steel companies to produce oxygen on a wartime basis and supply it to hospitals on a priority basis.

The Vedanta Group has said it will produce 1,000 tonnes of medical oxygen per day from its closed Ceterlight Copper manufacturing plant to address the country’s oxygen shortage. The Sterlite Copper plant at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu has two oxygen plants capable of producing 1,000 tonnes of oxygen per day. The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) had ordered the closure of Sterlite three years ago citing pollution issues. Therefore, Vedanta said, an application has been filed in the Supreme Court for permission for the plant. The Vedanta Group added that the company’s CEO Pankaj Kumar has written to Union Health Minister Harshavardhan, Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy and Chief Secretary regarding the production of oxygen from the plant.
