Twitter, a social media platform, started deleting the classic Blue tickmark from user profiles on Thursday. On the social networking platform, well-known cricketers like Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Sachin Tendulkar among others have lost their checkmarks. Some cricketers, meanwhile, still have their blue checkmarks. Twitter had already made a premium subscription option known as “Twitter Blue” available, and as part of that, the platform started deleting the old checkmarks from user accounts. Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, announced in November that the social media site would begin charging USD 8 per month for the verification status. The verification status of some athletes has been lost. Sanju Samson, Chris Gayle, David Warner, Rishabh Pant, Dale Steyn, Virender Sehwag, and Glenn Maxwell, among others, are also on the list.
Blue ticks in the cricket
Notably, a few cricketing legends still sport their Blue Tick. Among the athletes who still have their blue marks are Kevin Pietersen, Suresh Raina, AB de Villiers, and Ravi Ashwin. These cricketers have paid for Twitter Blue, according to their profiles. Notably, members of the social media platform started responding when the verification status of various sports figures was removed.
Who cares if you have a blue tick or not? How does it positively or negatively effect your day? It really shouldn’t!
Be happy, be nice and don’t let something so silly annoy you for one sec!— Kevin Pietersen🦏 (@KP24) April 21, 2023
