The second wave of Corona virus may be on the slopes, but the Delta Plus variant of Kovid-19 has once again raised the concern of the country. The number of cases of Delta Plus variant of Corona is increasing continuously and now this figure has reached 40. If government sources are to be believed, so far 40 new cases of Delta Plus variants have been reported in the country, out of which Maharashtra is the highest.

According to government sources, so far the Delta Plus variant has knocked in four states – Maharashtra, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in the country. According to the government, India is one of the ten countries where the ‘Delta Plus’ variant has been found so far. The government said that the delta form has been detected in 80 countries. The most frightening thing about this is that this Delta Plus variant can dodge both the vaccine and immunity.

A statement issued by the Union Health Ministry said that the Indian SARS Cov-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) had reported that the Delta Plus variant, currently of concern (VOC), characterized by rapid proliferation, growth of lung cells. There are features such as firmly binding to the receptor and a potential reduction in the ‘monoclonal antibody response’. Apart from India, the ‘Delta Plus’ form of corona virus has been found in America, Britain, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Poland, Nepal, China and Russia.

The Indian SARS CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) is a group of national laboratories constituted by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. INSACOG is tracing new forms of the virus and their relationship to the pandemic. Union Secretary Bhushan said that while broadly speaking, both the Indian vaccines – Covishield and Covaccine – are effective against the delta form, but to what extent and in what proportion they produce antibodies, information will be shared very soon.
