Bappi Lahiri passed away; Tributes from Chiranjeevi, Akshay Kumar and others

Bappi Lahiri, who passed on at age of 69 in a Mumbai ICU on 16th Feb, was remembered by the film society and many others. actors and movie producers recalled the legend for his dynamite commitment to the Hindi film. Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Vidya Balan, and different stars honored Bappi Lahiri on Twitter. The artist was hospitalized for more than a month, and he was being treated for multiple health issues.

In the latest, Bappi Lahiri sang tracks like Bambai Nagariya from Taxi No 9211 (2006), Ooh La from The Dirty Picture (2011) and Tune Maari Entriyaan from 2014 film Gunday.

Other than Hindi film, Bappi Lahiri likewise gave music for films in Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Gujarati films. His last Bollywood tune named Bhankas was for the 2020 film Baaghi 3. Bappi Lahiri is credited as a trailblazer of disco music in Bollywood. His most famous tracks were from the movies Disco Dancer, Dance Dance, and Namak Halaal. He made and sang notorious melodies like Koi Yaha Naache from Disco Dancer and Pyar Bina Chain Kaha from Saheb, to give some examples. Other than his music, Bappi Lahiri was known for his particular way of wearing gold chains and sunglasses.

I had a great association with Bappi da. He gave numerous chartbusters for me, which contributed immensely to my film’s popularity. He will always be remembered for his unique style and his great enthusiasm for life which is reflected in his music. My heartfelt condolences to all his near and dear.”

“I wish you joy wherever you go Bappi da because that’s what you brought to the world through your music and your being. Love always, Bidda (as you’d so endearingly call me),” composed Vidya Balan. Bappi Lahiri had sung Ooh La from The Dirty Picture, in which Vidya Balan played the lead.

Producer Hansal Mehta wrote in his remembrance: “Another legend gone. Bappi Lahiri. Had the good fortune of working closely with him when I shot an ad for Pand G and then when I worked with White Feather Films for Sanjay Gupta. Man of incredible melody and talent.”
