Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam was born to this day (15 oct) and he was also known as the ‘Missile Man’ of India. He was the 11th President of India and his term was from 2002 to 2007. APJ Abdul Kalam, who had received ‘Bharat Ratna’ (1997), also called him ‘People’s President’. Every aspect of Kalam’s life is an inspiration to all. The former president had also proved that a person becomes great by his actions and knowledge, not by virtue and wealth.

APJ Abdul Kalam loved children and also liked spending time with children. However, he remained single throughout his life. He was fond of children, but despite this he had no child of his own. His understanding once surprised even the journalists.

It was told that once Kalam was having fun with children in Rashtrapati Bhavan. During this time, the media people caught sight of Kalam, at that time there was happiness and satisfaction on his face. In such a situation, the journalists also asked Kalam without wasting time why you do not have any children of your own? To which Kalam replied, “You are all wrong, I have three sons.”

Reporters were shocked by Kalam’s statement. Questioning from the front, Kalam asked, ‘You do not know my three sons? They are ‘Prithvi’, ‘Agni’ and ‘BrahMos’.

The former President breathed his last on 27 July 2015. APJ Abdul Kalam went on a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management on a visit to Shillong. While climbing the stairs, Kalam felt uncomfortable, but reached the auditorium. However, during his five-minute speech, around 6.35 pm, Kalam collapsed on stage. Kalam was taken to the nearby Bethany Hospital. However, there was nothing left in them. Kalam did not survive despite the efforts of doctors. He was declared dead at 7.45 pm.
