RRR, SS Rajamouli’s most recent film, generated a lot of hype at western theatres. The historical period drama featuring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan received high accolades from several Hollywood figures. The director has now expanded his list of accomplishments. The creator of Baahubali has signed up with the Entertainment and Sports Agency- Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
After RRR’s enormous success, SS Rajamouli recently took part in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Addressing the event, the filmmaker was quoted saying, “My next film with Mahesh Babu will be a globetrotting action adventure. It’s going to be a kind of James Bond or Indiana Jones film with Indian roots!”
RRR was even the favorite to represent India at the Oscars this year. The Gujarati film Chhello Show was selected by the Film Federation of India to receive the prestigious prizes, snubbing the action comedy. Adam McKay, a well-known Hollywood filmmaker of movies including Don’t Look Up, The Big Short, Vice, etc., tweeted in response to the ruling, “This is a travesty. But let’s make sure it gets a best picture nom. Can we do a screening at the Rose Bowl? (How amazing would that be?) #RRR.”
In the meantime, Dylan Marchetti, the US distributor of RRR, told that he will be starting a campaign to support the movie and will be calling Academy members to cast their votes for RRR in every category. The motion picture will be put forward for nominations in the Best Picture, Original Screenplay (SS Rajamouli and V Vijayendra Prasad), Lead Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Supporting Actors (Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt), Original Song (Naatu Naatu), Original Score (MM Keeravani), and Cinematography categories (KK Senthilkumar).
